Creative Yoga Sequencing uses the HIPY class structure to organize how to sequence your class. The class structure is divided into three main areas:
So what does this mean? First, let’s think of how the sun rises and sets each day. It’s a natural curve. It starts by establishing presence as it begins to rise to its full potential, generating heat and providing energy to the world, and then eventually lowers once this has been accomplished to settle in for the night.
Throughout the day, it may be challenged with interferences in the form of clouds, lightening, rain or wind. Each day brings new adventures to experience and some type of transformation to take place. And through it all, the sun stays established in its presence and consistent with its blessings.
Teaching a yoga class is no different. You start by establishing presence with your students, preparing them to generate heat so they can nourish their body and mind, and then settle in for Savasana. Along the way, they may encounter their own interferences such as losing breath, soreness, tiredness or distractions. The ability for them to stay mindful through these challenges is what creates the transformation and expansion your students are longing for.

These yoga poses are used at the beginning of a yoga class to establish presence and energize your spine. For example, simple seated poses and cat/cow flow.
